Odd Oil Temp readings
04/24/17 at 16:33:05

Hi,
I've just built a my15M and connecting it all up. Optimiser on the Android and ECUControl (168) on the PC both tell me ambient temp on from the oil sensor is 43deg. I measure it at 3.4k which matches what the air temp is telling me (22deg or there abouts).
I have the following in the map file:
#Temp C   -30   -20   -10     0    10    20    25    30    40    50    60    70    80    90   100   110   125
#TempR   51466 28618 16571  9712  5956  3742  2991  2408  1597  1077   746   524   375   274   203   152   102
Which tells me it should be reading about 22deg cold.

I've just started and run the bike (had to fool it by setting the prime and cranking values higher in the 40 to 50deg range) and she warms up fine but the oil temp is still off. It says 60deg and seems to max out there where reading the sensor it is telling me 371R which is about 75deg where I'd expect it to be after the time I ran it.

Not sure if this is related but my RPM with engine off is 200 as well which seems weird.

Please help.
Trav.

The RPM never shows zero. It will show 200 (250 for the MyP8) when not running.

You shouldn't try fooling things or running the bike when there is an obvious error.
It would be best to diagnose this when the bike is cold so that you have two sensors giving the same resistance and therefore two identical voltages at the inputs of the ECU.

The two circuits are the same

The important thing is that there is no current through the horizontal resistors and therefore the voltage at the 1K5 should match the voltage at the microcontroller.

Assuming you have the correct components, you have a reversed diode or a leaky cap or dirt from construction.

Cheers.

Will check the diodes and swap out the caps and see if that gets her going properly.

Got to say, this thing is awesome. I've been installing Megasquirts on cars for years and what you've done here does 90% of the features / function in a package that is sooo much simpler and easier to deal with.
