Title: How do I log?
Post by greenmonster on 03/15/10 at 12:09:34
Can someone explain,
please in simple layman words, maybe step-by-step,
how I log, using a MyECU P8 & the Optimizer?
Do I need any additional software?

The Optimiser can't be used for logging.
You generally need a PC or PDA to capture the data the ECU spits out.
The most convenient is to use a PDA and the new bluetooth option.

Would be cool though. Just add NVRAM to the Optimiser (or even the ECU) and let it always log (circle buffer, you always have the last x minutes of log).
After ride, download log to computer. Pretty much like some of the Innovate products.

I,
and I think a few more need a really easy instruction about this cause were not so good at software etc.

So i have to have the ruggsack PC (w ECUController open) connected while running if to make a log.
Then I just click ECU Diagnostics and get a readable file?
Or does the file need to be feed through another software?

What is PDA?

The latest ECUController has many enhancements for logging but you probably need a firmware upgrade to use it.

A PDA, Personal digital assistant - like the Compaq Ipaq etc
Or a smartphone with Windows Mobile.

There are 2 stages. The first is to capture the data. It easiest to use the standard windows program hyperterminal as documented here - http://www.cajinnovations.com/MyECU/SerialComms.htm

Further to that you go into the menu Transfer->Capture Text file. Call the file something .dmp.

Once you have the data the 2nd stage is go into the ECUController and load your map first. Then click ECU Diagnostics, select the .dmp file you saved the data into, then select the file you want to put the formatted data into.

This info was also here - http://cajinnovations.com/yabb0/YaBB.pl?num=1257148276

I am bogging down with logging a ride.

Using EcuController 1.66 I have selected Diagnostic and named a file first.raw, went for a short run with an XP netbook.  I got a short 160kb file, tried Colourise Map and clicked on my .raw file, nothing happened.

1.  How large should the file be.

2.  What does Correct Map do.

3.  Are there any more up to date instructions please.

Thanks.

160kb is rather short. Colourise only works when the coolant temp hits 50C.

Before you tried to colourise, did you close the program or stop the logging?

Send me you map and data file and I'll see if there is anything wrong with that.

Started to log as soon as I started the engine, so probably the problem.

I will do a longer run, my netbook went onto standby.

I am away for a week, I will warm the bike up and retry and send you the results then.

Thanks for the answer, its been a rocky road but I know I have learnt a lot already for which I am grateful.

So what does Correct Map do?

It's like autotune in the Optimiser. It will apply changes to the map and you should save it to another map file.
Then compare with the original to see if they make sense and maybe apply some smoothing to other cells

Do I use Correct Map in the same way as Autotune while riding the bike or does it use the .raw file saved during a log ride.
