Title: New developments. The beast has awaken
Post by YaBB Administrator on 04/08/12 at 09:39:58
It may seem a little quiet on the MyECU front but in fact the cauldron has been churning. Am I mixing metaphors or what?

Things under development are
  • New ECU, the MySwift. This is a replacement ECU for the Suzuki Swift. This will not likely be of any interest to you. This project is for my brothers who had been nagging me about doing one for them. The prototype is on road and being tuned.
  • Bluetooth Resurrection, just a coincidence it's Easter Sunday. I've identified a module to be used. Its part of the Arduino family so should be around for a while. No firmware upgrade for MyECU is required.
  • New programmer for the AVR for doing firmware upgrades. The parallel port is nolonger required as this is USB connected. I haven't got around to trying them yet.
  • Optimiser/ECUController for Android. This is probably the most exciting development. Being Java based it means I have to rewrite just about every line of code but what better way to improve. I'm also unfamiliar with Android development so a bit of a learning curve involved also. As of today I have an app that can read and write maps from/to the files. It will connect to the ECU via the new bluetooth module and it will log the ECU data to file.

You can mix all the metaphors you want if this is the result. Look forward to roll outs.

You'll need to give me some more details about what you are doing and what version you are using - in another thread or email.

Just put my order in also. I think it is very popular as the shipping date is now 3-4 weeks.

What is the latest firmware for a MKIV board?  According to my log files, I have v4.7.  If that is not the latest, what fixes or improvements are in the latest version?

I'm on 4.9 at the moment but there would be little benefit to you to upgrade at this stage. Most of the changes were to support new versions of the hardware and don't really add anything to what you have.
Once I have the Android Optimiser at a reasonable level, I will make some enhancements to the ECU firmware.
At this stage all I'm think of is making the ECU output more realtime and some enhancement to the throttle pump emulation and closed loop ( mainly to make it a bit more customisable ).
Probably a good time to ask if there are any features you may want.
