Title: O2 Sensor selection 1V or 5V types - wideband Post by Wheel on 02/05/23 at 20:19:52
Hello Guys
As I am just putting together my Daytona 1000 project I would like to run it with a O2 sensor in close loop mode. So I need to find an O2 sensor that will fit. I know there are more types with different outputs. 1. Generation O2 sensors is Zirconium Oxide types they have an output between 0-1 Volts and between 1-4 wires This sensor type will give between 0,65V-1V if mixture is fat and 40mV ̧250mV if mixture is lean. 2.Generation O2 sensors (Perhaps wideband?) is Titanium Oxide types, they have an output between 0-5V This sensor has high resistance at fat mixture & low resistance at lean mixture. 3. I think there is even a newer generation of O2 sensor with 5 wires. So I need to find the right one for MyECU. I was looking at the MAP for the O2 sensor and it seems the target setting is around 2 volts or in that range. So according to this it seems MyEcu must be made for 2.Generation O2 sensors Titanium Oxide I guess ? (found some map used in Daytona 1000 in this forum) Hope someone can confirm or have adwise ? Thanks in advance :D Pierre Juhl Denmark |

The big difference with the sensors is that some require an extra box of electronics to run them. I had two or three of them and they all failed prematurely. So my preference is to keep it simple.
My original Bosch sensor the Bosch 0258 104 002 is still running on my Cali. It's a 4 wire wide band sensor with a 1V range but more gradual slope. I'd go for that or a newer version of it. The MyECU doesn't know about lambda or A/F ration. All it cares about is voltage. You give it a target voltage and it will try and track it. |

Further the sign indicates the slope. The simple higher voltage is richer takes a positive sign.

In closed loop, i have chosen voltage targets from sensor i have.
What i'm trying to understand is the yellow line and the 2 red lines. Is the yellow line trying to follow the target voltage? Is one red line the target, the other actual output? If base map is rich/lean, does ecu try to adjust to meet target, or is that where suggestions are generated and then sorted manually? |

The yellow line is the % correction applied. Ideally this is near 100%. The swing is limited to 1/8 or 12%.
The other lines are the sensor voltage and the target the ECU is aiming for. The line correspond to the three lines of text on the graph. |

Thanks.
I have been using the data supplied with sensor. What i found is the ecu is wanting to make fuelling richer based off that. Example, data for my sensor quotes 13.8AF @ 1.87 volts. The gauge reads around low 12AF, and the actual voltage from sensor reads around 2.06 volts on the optimiser. The corection is always indicating lean, and suggestions are always rich. I changed target voltage up to 2.03 volts, data sheet suggests this will give about 14.03AF. In reality, it is still low 12's I then sent target upto 2.18. This started to lean things as required. Long/short, have reset fuel map back to oem spec, and set closed loop targets back to default in optimiser, MyECU Cfg O2=0.00V,-3.00V,-2.75V,-2.50V,-2.25V,-2.00V,-1.75V,-1.50V Will see how this goes. I feel it will sort the rich fuelling, and shows the sensor data is faulty. |

Can you send me a log from a ride that produced suggestions.

Sorted now, after consultation with Cliff. Thanks as always.
2 pin options to connect O2 sensor. I had it connected to inside pin, now on outside pin. Auto tune now working as it should. Reset target values to what came with sensor. Will continue to test. So far, fuelling is much better. Target values set as follows. Cruise, 14.00AF, 2.00 volts. Acceleration, 13.30AF, 1.64 volts. Full throttle, 12.5AF, 1.25 volts. Side note, my cold starts were abit off. Not sure how, but i had prime a couple of points high. Re adjusted down. Seems improved. |

Running idle cells, 0/1000, 0/1500, 1/1000, 1/1500, in closed loop.
Prior to this, AF was around 11.5 at idle. In terms of CO reading, this is around 6.5% CO. Many Ducati's are happy in the 3 to 6% CO range. Running idle in closed loop, AF is now around 12.5, this gives about 5% CO. Start up is good, idle is good. Off idle throttle is nice and crisp. I made changes to Inj adv. Posted else where, but at idle, inj adv is set at 270. Starting improved, as did idle. |
