Wanted: New ECU for the SmallBlock
12/11/13 at 03:45:25

Wishlist - a MyECU for the new smallblock engine.

A year ago Guzzi came out with a revised engine for the smallblock.  The biggest change was to the ECU.  If I understand it correctly, each cylinder now has their own oxygen sensor for that cylinder.

My wish is for development of the MyECU units for the revised smallblock.

What you describe seems rather bizarre. If they have gone the same way as the Breva 1100 ECU then it's not going to happen.

Do you have any pics or other info?

The new engine ECU is attached to the throttle body assembly.  See below diagram.  ECU is part no. 1.

I'm not saying it's right, or wrong, or the best way.  But it's what Guzzi is doing now.  Of course I turned to Guzzi in the first place because BMW had gotten so technical that you couldn't even work on your bike at all.  I love Guzzi, especially the smallblocks, because they were dinosaurs.  Old type engines that you could work on yourself.

Is that the ECU? It looks more like a single throttle body for the two cylinders.

Yes, it's a single TB with the ECU attached directly to it.  Apparently it's integrated now with the TB assembly and TPS and all are sold as a single unit.  No separate parts now.

I don't have one of the "new engine" smallblocks, but I can see eventually getting one.

I'm hanging onto my current V7 for several more years, since it's tricked out just the way I like it.

Since this is a wish list, I'm putting it out there for thought.

Me too! My 1100 Sportie has been somewhat neglected since May when I got a V7 Stone. It would be nice to have the same functionality as MyECU on the Stone to allow wholly unsuitable fettling Smiley.

Ha ha: "fix it until it breaks."  I know the feeling.
