Closed Loop Operation
06/27/24 at 20:07:11

I have recently installed a mini myP8 I built several years ago in a California EFI engined Triking (3 wheeler). I'm currently using the 1995 California 1100i cali.ecu map downloaded from this site.  I'm also using the Android Optimiser (1.1) on an old tablet which all works fine. In general, the map seems good: cold starts are fine and it runs well throughout the rev range with only some minor backfiring on the overrun.

I would like to go to closed loop operation as the map may benefit from further optimisation due to the heavier weight of the Triking over a bike. I have bought this Lambda sensor to see how it works out ( I realise a wideband one might be be better)
https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/racetech-universal-lambda-sensor-r-plos03/

This may be a dumb question but do I just install it, set the switch to closed loop and see how it works out or should I alter the Oxygen sensor target settings through the Optimiser first?

Thanks

Throwing the switch is the last step.
First measure the voltage the sensor is given at the ECU connector while idling and warm with a voltmeter. Then check the log file from the app and see if the ECU is seeing the same. I'd ground the unused input to avoid confusion.

Start with a simple setting and all the same target voltages, use 0.5V or whatever looks appropriate from the log.

# There are 8 possible voltage targets available 0-7
# The first number for 0 should be 0.0 and means open loop
# For simple sensors where richer is more voltage, all numbers should be positive
# For later sensors where leaner is more voltage, all numbers should be negative

MyECU Cfg O2=0.00V,0.50V,0.50V,0.50V,0.50V,0.50V,0.50V,0.50V,
# 0 = None, 1 = Inp1, 2 = Inp2, 3 = Both
MyECU Cfg O2Sensors=1

Next go to the flags section of the map and check closed loop is enabled near idle. Keep the bottom row open loop for the moment.
Flags  01  (O0)  (O4)  (O4)  (O4)  (O5)  (O5)  (O5)  (O5)  (O4)  (O4)  (O3)  (O3)  (O3)  (O3)  (O4)  (O4)
Flags  00  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)  (O0)

Lastly when idling flick the switch. As you open throttle you should see the compensation start. Come off throttle to reset compensation(bottom row).

Thanks for the helpful reply.

I'll get the Lambda sensor installed and report back on how it works out.
